We all want dignity and justice for our loved ones, and healing for those who have suffered from trauma, addiction or mental health crises.
Instead, politicians have built new prisons, incarcerating over 41,000 of our loved ones leading to an incarceration rate of 676 to every 1,000 in Wisconsin. (Prison Policy Initiative).
Together, we work to end mass incarceration, expand funding to community-based alternatives to crimeless revocations and treatment alternatives and diversions. We will close prions and re-invest money in programs that will rebuild communities that have been devastated by mass incarceration.
Ex-incarcerated People Organizing (EXPO), leads WISDOM’s efforts to end mass incarceration in Wisconsin. EXPO also works to eliminate all forms of structural discrimination against formerly incarcerated people, and restore formerly incarcerated people to full participation in the life of our communities. The FREE Campaign is focused on the unique issues of women who have experienced incarceration and is a chapter of EXPO.
