Racial Equity is a process of eliminating racial disparities and improving outcomes for everyone. It is the intentional and continual practice of changing policies, practices, systems, and structures by prioritizing measurable change in the lives of people of color.
In Wisconsin, the attack on racial equity is prevalent in our schools with the fight against “Critical Race Theory.” Schools in Burlington, Waukesha and Cudahy have all received national attention for their debate on this controversial topic.
WISDOM believes that certain policies, practices, and beliefs—rooted in history and still affecting people today—keep Wisconsinsites from learning about the true history of Black, Native American, and Hispanic people. Wisconsinsites CAN handle the truth and racial equity should be addressed in all spaces, whether that be our work environments or our schools.
